SUMMARY: Houston has been experiencing hazy skies due to agricultural fires in Mexico and Central America, a common occurrence this time of year. Dr. David Pur, Chief Medical Officer for the City of Houston, explains that the haze can impact health, particularly due to particles like PM2.5, which can cause heart attacks and stroke. Everyone, not just those with lung conditions, can be affected. Prevention tips include staying indoors, using masks, and maintaining medication. With the upcoming summer months, increased heat can exacerbate air pollution issues in Houston. Changing air filters, recirculating car air, and seeking medical help if experiencing breathing problems are recommended.
