Dashcam video shows Fort Worth electrician’s work truck struck by lightning

SUMMARY: Last week, a North Texas electrician, Garrett Beck, encountered a startling incident when lightning struck his work truck. Beck and his coworker Jeff Baker were driving on Interstate 35 when they heard a loud boom and saw sparks, followed by the truck malfunctioning. Initially thought to be a collision, the lightning strike was later confirmed through dash cam footage posted on social media by another driver. The strike damaged the truck's ladder rack and shut down the vehicle, but fortunately, neither Beck nor Baker were injured. Beck humorously wished the odds favored winning the lottery instead; the likelihood of a lightning strike is 1 in 1.2 million.

Garrett Beck is a Fort Worth-based electrician. But nothing from his experience prepared him for what happened last week. “I wish it was on a lottery ticket and not getting struck by lightning.”

SUMMARY: A newborn baby girl was abandoned on a bridge in Harris County just hours after birth, left exposed in the hot South Texas sun. The baby still had a fresh placenta attached. Around 9:00 a.m., a couple found her wrapped in a towel and immediately called 911. Paramedics arrived quickly and took her to the hospital where she is now recovering well. The incident was caught on security cameras, and detectives are currently searching for the man responsible, who will face charges of child endangerment and abandonment. The family who found the baby expressed disbelief and gratitude for being there in time to save her life.

Just as the sun was rising in the sky Saturday morning, a baby was born. Before lunch, a man dumped the baby on a walking trail near a bayou in Harris County.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says the baby was found wrapped in a towel around 9 a.m. at the end of a cul-de-sac on Casa Martin Drive.
