Humble ISD substitute teacher forces soap into mouth of 13-year-old Cambridge School student with Down syndrome, mom says
SUMMARY: A substitute teacher at a special needs school in Atascocita, Texas was fired after allegedly washing a student’s mouth out with soap. The student’s mother, LaShae Celestine, was unhappy with the school’s transparency regarding the incident. She stated that her 13-year-old daughter, who has Down syndrome, was assaulted by the teacher. The incident was caught on camera and shared with the mother. The district reported the incident to Child Protective Services and Humble ISD Police are investigating. Humble ISD also mentioned that the substitute teacher was experienced. The mother is dissatisfied with the school’s protection of her child and wants better care for her daughter.

Flooding emergency: Clean up efforts are underway for Montgomery County while flood waters head into Channelview

Marble Falls HS students compete for esports title
SUMMARY: Marble Falls High School’s esports team is competing in the Texas Esports League championship in Arlington, playing Fortnite. The team has advanced to the final four and will face DeSoto High School next. Members are excited about the opportunity to compete and the exposure it brings. They have put in a lot of work to get to where they are and are looking forward to the future of esports. Winning Sunday morning would mean competing in the finals match later that day. Players are thrilled to have the opportunity to compete in esports and are ready for the challenge ahead.

Harris County May 4 Uniform Election results: Voters select three appointees on the county appraisal board after polls close
SUMMARY: On November 5, a Uniform Election took place in Harris County, featuring two Democratic candidates for a special election to fill the remaining nine months of a Texas Senate seat vacated by John Whitmire. Various races, including for Harris County Appraisal District board members, were also on the ballot. Early results showed Molly Cook leading for the Senate seat and Kathy Blueford-Daniels leading for HCAD director at-large Place 1. Voting took place at 151 centers, with the next election being a primary runoff on May 28. Results were still pending, with ABC13 awaiting official results.
