Why a Houston-area family hasn’t received death certificate for father who died nearly 3 months ago
SUMMARY: A family from Brenham, Texas, has been waiting months for the death certificate of their 69-year-old patriarch, Jimmy Hoe, who passed away in March. Without it, they’ve been unable to access important benefits and documents. The delay was due to pending specific test results needed to finalize the death certificate. The Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office cited a vendor change for the delay in testing. The county Judge’s office now says the new vendor’s contract has been approved, and the medical examiner has agreed to send letters to help the family access life insurance and other benefits. The family feels relief as progress is made.
A family was not only left to mourn the loss of their father but still have yet received his death certificate, nearly three months after his death.
