SUMMARY: UT Austin will go ahead with graduation ceremonies, implementing a strict security policy to prevent disruptions. The president, Jay Hartzel, reassured graduates, many of whom had their 2020 graduation cancelled due to the pandemic, that the ceremonies will take place as planned. The university will not tolerate any disruptions, with hecklers or protestors being removed. Other universities in Texas, such as UT Arlington and UNT, also confirm their graduation ceremonies will proceed. Despite recent arrests and protests on campuses, all ceremonies are scheduled to go on as planned with heightened security measures in place to ensure a smooth and safe event.

While some major universities are canceling graduation commencements or scaling them back, Texas universities plan to go on with graduation as planned.

Suspect in Dallas truck theft case was wanted for 2 murders earlier this year

Published

on

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-26 17:18:23

SUMMARY: After an officer-involved shooting in Dallas, one of the suspects arrested, 19-year-old Deontay Quindel Moore, faces two counts of capital murder for a double homicide in March. Moore's bond is set at $1.5 million. The victims, 18-year-old Cameron Stacy and Kamari Smith Caps, were found shot to death in South Dallas. Social media conversations and cell phone data linked Moore to the crime. Previously, Moore had only an evading charge from 2022. The case also highlights concerns over Glock switches, which convert semi-automatic pistols into machine guns. More updates, including potential findings of switches in the stolen truck, are expected soon.

One of the three suspects arrested after a confrontation with Dallas police on Thursday was wanted for allegedly killing two 18-year-olds earlier this year.
