www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2024-04-20 21:53:30

SUMMARY: In tonight’s Fox 7 Focus, Dr. Heath Morrison discusses the rise of uncertified teachers in Texas Public Schools, due to districts of innovation allowing for hiring without certification. Before the pandemic, there were 2-3,000 uncertified teachers, but now there are over 177,000. Uncertified teachers tend to leave after 3 years and lack preparation in lesson construction and classroom management. Dr. Morrison emphasizes the need to support and certify these teachers, and suggests legislative action in the future. He believes in enhancing the teaching profession and ensuring proper compensation. The goal is to provide a pathway for uncertified teachers to become certified.

Concerns are growing over the sharp increase in uncertified teachers working in Texas public schools. Should you be worried about the quality of your child’s education? FOX 7’s John Krinjak takes a closer look.

House approves $95B in aid for Ukraine, Israel, others

Published

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-04-20 21:30:03

SUMMARY: After months of struggle, the House passed aid packages totaling billions of dollars for Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific with bipartisan support. Despite threats to Speaker Mike Johnson’s position, he pushed the bills through, citing global instability caused by Russia, Iran, and China. Georgia congresswoman Taylor Green, who previously threatened Johnson’s removal over aid for Ukraine, did not challenge him. The bills now move to the Senate, where conservative concerns remain. Meanwhile, the US Senate reauthorized a key part of the surveillance program, with President Biden set to sign the legislation. Former President Trump had urged Republicans to block the renewal, blaming the program for his legal issues.

The House voted in a rare Saturday session to approve three foreign aid bills for Ukraine, Israel and other U.S. allies totaling $95 billion.
