SUMMARY: The city has not yet deemed the Durham Heights Apartments safe for residents to return after being declared unlivable due to unreliable water and power since the May 16th storms. Reporter Gage Golding has been advocating for the displaced residents, explaining their limited legal options. Under Texas law, tenants can use a city’s unlivability notice to potentially break their lease but must proceed cautiously. Donna Carney of Lone Star Legal Aid advises residents to conduct all actions in writing, suggesting certified mail and hand delivery. Tenants are entitled to prorated rent refunds and security deposits upon moving out.

Nearly a month after UT Dallas's graduation, criminal proceedings and disciplinary actions remain unresolved for some students. Despite a return to normalcy on campuses, UT Dallas and UT Austin are enforcing measures against students arrested for criminal trespassing after refusing to dismantle their protest encampments. The universities emphasize that these actions are for policy violations, not the act of protesting. Disciplinary measures range from warnings to withholding degrees, with sanctions lifted once the conduct process is completed. UT Dallas declined to comment on ongoing measures.
