Police investigating homicide in Downtown Austin

Several 911 callers reported hearing gunshots, and when police arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. This incident marks the city’s 17th homicide of 2024.

9-year-old ducks for cover in FW drive-by shooting

SUMMARY: A driveby shooting in West Fort Worth left six children injured earlier this month. Newly released shows a young boy narrowly avoiding being hit by a bullet that came through his apartment wall. The incident took place at the Miramar Apartments off of Las Vegas Trail, with the most seriously injured being a three-year-old girl. The Fort Worth Police Department has not announced any arrests or updates in the case. The three-year-old girl and her six-year-old brother who were shot are still recovering from their injuries. The community is shocked and concerned about the safety of children in the area.

Newly released video shows the terrifying moments of a drive-by shooting in West Fort Worth. Six children were injured in that attack. A 9-year-old who was simply sitting on his living room couch was nearly the seventh.

Facility Fees added to Houstonians’ medical bills

Texas parents file lawsuit against state over claims of child abuse | FOX 7 Austin

SUMMARY: Lorina Bourne and Jason Troy’s sons were mistakenly diagnosed with child abuse by doctors in May 2015, resulting in Jason being charged with felony child abuse and the children being placed in foster care. After five months, a correct diagnosis was made for JJ, and the children were allowed to return home. The family has filed a federal lawsuit against Dell Children’s Medical Center and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, seeking accountability and prevention of similar situations. The family’s main goal is to ensure other families do not have to endure similar wrongful accusations. JJ is now healthy and happy. Dell Children’s Medical Center emphasized the importance of reporting suspected abuse or neglect as required by law.
