SUMMARY: A North Texas family, the Smiths, is facing delays in adopting six-year-old Esther from Haiti due to increased violence in the capital, Port-au-Prince. The U.S. State Department has restricted access to Haiti, leaving Esther, who was abandoned at birth, in an orphanage in the mountains. Kathleen and Jordan Smith, who have three biological children, are struggling with the uncertainty surrounding Esther's safety and the stalled adoption process. They are among 25 families in similar situations. An attorney from Fox Rothschild represents over two dozen families nationwide, advocating for humanitarian parole to legally finalize the adoptions in the U.S. Elected officials are also pushing for this measure. Meanwhile, the Smiths are prepared and eagerly awaiting Esther's arrival.

SUMMARY: Nigel Sanders, a Harris County inmate, sparked an overnight manhunt after escaping custody, only to be rearrested with his mother and sister, who helped him hide. Bryce Newberry reports that Sanders' escape from the court tunnels was described as unusual and alarming. After being free for over 12 hours, surveillance captured his second arrest in Cloverleaf. Sanders had been in jail for five days and escaped by climbing from a secure to an unsecured area of the court tunnels. He stole a hoodie and knife, threatened an employee, and now faces six felonies, including escape and aggravated robbery.

The hunt for an escaped inmate has concluded Friday after authorities were able to capture him at a relative's home. 2 others have been also taken into custody for hindering the search.
Investigators say Nigel Sanders, 35, was found at his mother's house on Force St. in the Cloverleaf area of east Harris County. She and Sanders' sister were both arrested for helping him.
Sanders initially resisted arrest when they tried taking him into custody and authorities say they had to use tasers to subdue him.
