How to break the grip of rip currents by KPRC 2 Meteorologist Anthony Yanez

Published

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-05-27 11:24:26

SUMMARY: If you're heading to this weekend, be aware of the significant rip current risk due to a consistent southernly southeasterly wind creating narrow, fast-moving funnels in the waves. These rip currents can reach speeds of 5 to 6 miles per hour and extend up to a quarter mile from shore. It's crucial to remain calm if caught in a rip current, which is challenging as you'll feel yourself being pulled away from the beach. Swimming parallel to the shore can help you escape, or allow the current to take you out and then swim back when it dissipates.
