Galveston Fire Department Pinning and Awards Ceremony

Published

on

SUMMARY: Every year, the Fire Department holds a celebration to honor the firefighters in their community. The event includes badge pinning, promotions, retiree recognition, and special presentations. The firefighters themselves volunteer to be part of the honor guard, which performs tasks such as standing guard at services for fallen firefighters. The department also recognizes the efforts of other local departments, city departments, and outside entities that work closely with them. This year, commendations were given for mutual aid provided to the Bayou Vista Fire Department and for the support of the Galveston Police Department, emergency management teams, and others.

Each year the Galveston Fire Department holds a special celebration honoring the men and women who selflessly serve our community. On Tuesday, August 4th, 2015, Chief Mike Wisko and Assistant Fire Chief Charlie Olsen led the annual badge pinning and promotion ceremony.
