The incident followed an investigation into an aggravated assault by Doria Thompson, a 33-year-old black male, involving a firearm. On the preceding day, Thompson was caught on shooting a victim in the shoulder. Police identified his vehicle and tracked it the next day. SUMMARY: A vigil was held in North Houston for 12-year-old Joselyn Narai, whose murder has deeply affected her community. Family, friends, teachers, and strangers gathered to honor her memory. Two suspects, 26-year-old Franklin Pena and 22-year-old Johan Martinez Rangel, have been charged with her murder. They allegedly lured Joselyn, tied her up, strangled her, and disposed of her body to eliminate DNA evidence. Both suspects are Venezuelan nationals released by border patrol earlier this year. Prosecutors revealed the suspects did not know Joselyn before the incident. The community is demanding justice and stricter immigration controls.

The family of Jocelyn Nungaray held a candlelight vigil to honor the 12-year-old girl whose life was senselessly taken.
The vigil took place from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday night near the area where the girl’s body was found Monday morning.

Texas Medical Board approves exceptions for doctors to perform abortions | FOX 7 Austin

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2024-06-21 22:17:26

SUMMARY: The Texas Medical Board approved new rules regarding exceptions to the state's abortion ban, including defining ectopic pregnancy and clarifying that doctors can act before life-threatening conditions occur. The changes aim to address concerns about the clarity of the law, as the Texas Supreme Court stated exceptions are broad enough to allow abortions when a mother's is in danger. This followed a lawsuit from women with severe pregnancy complications seeking clarity. The rules don't list specific conditions for exceptions, emphasizing medical judgment. Doctors must provide documentation within seven days explaining the need for an abortion, and previous requirements to transfer patients have been removed.

The Texas Medical Board unanimously approved guidelines for how doctors should interpret exceptions to the state's abortion ban.

SUMMARY: Austin Police Officer Cameron Caldwell is under his second APD investigation following his surrender to Williamson County Jail, charged with two counts of injury to a child from an incident at his Cedar Park home. Previously, in 2016, Caldwell made headlines for pepper-spraying a handcuffed man during a public intoxication arrest at South by Southwest. An internal investigation resulted in a 45-day suspension without pay, but he was cleared by a Travis County grand jury. Currently, APD has placed Caldwell on restricted duty and is cooperating with Cedar Park Police in the ongoing investigation.

An APD officer turned himself in on child abuse charges on Friday. This is not the first time the officer has been the subject of an investigation.
