Texas election officials: Loophole could expose your private ballot voting information

SUMMARY: State election officials in Texas have admitted there is a potential risk of voters' private ballot information being exposed publicly. The issue surfaced after a outlet claimed to have identified the ballot of a state political figure. Concerns also arose that an algorithm could be used to connect public records and identify individual votes, especially in low-turnout elections. The Texas Secretary of State's office has issued emergency guidance to limit the release of certain information and the Attorney General's office emphasized redacting personal data. Lawmakers aim to address these vulnerabilities through future legislation to ensure ballot secrecy and election integrity.

“In limited circumstances, through publicly available information, you may be able to identify the civic person's ballot,” admitted the election director for the Texas Secretary of State's Office.

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-11 22:16:07

SUMMARY: In a rare solo conference, President Biden aimed to address concerns about his fitness to lead. Despite occasional stumbles and misspeaking, even critics acknowledged his stronger performance. This was Biden's first formal news conference since November, delayed by nearly an hour. He answered questions for about 50 minutes, touching on his age, fitness to run, and foreign policy, where he seemed more at ease. Biden also downplayed reports of scaling back his schedule for more rest. Despite his efforts, a growing number of Democratic lawmakers are calling for him to step aside, including 16 Congressional members. Biden reiterated his confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris.

President Joe Biden continued his insistence that he would remain in the presidential race during a solo press conference Thursday evening to conclude the NATO summit in Washington, D.C.
