One month until TX runoff elections: FOX 7 Focus
SUMMARY: In Texas, runoff elections are approaching with established Republicans facing political challenges from Governor Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton. Incumbents are at risk as history shows only about 6% survive runoffs. Governor Abbott has targeted Republicans who opposed his stance on school vouchers, potentially impacting future legislation. Democrats may also gain seats in the Texas House due to national politics and district boundaries. Notably, the Speaker of the House has strong resources for his runoff. Turnout will be crucial for endangered Republicans, as reminding voters of the runoff date is a challenge. Early voting begins on May 20th and election day is on May 28th. These runoffs are separate from the local elections on May 4th.
Sunday marks one month until the runoff elections here in Texas. Following a very contentious primary day back in March, several established Republicans in Legislature were forced into runoffs thanks to political retribution from Governor Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton.
