SUMMARY: The Norwood House in Austin has been a historic landmark for over 100 years, but now the city council is deciding whether to keep it in its current location or tear it down. The house, originally an arts and crafts bungalow from the 1920s, has a lot of history and significance for the community. However, reconstructing the home could cost millions, and there are nearby construction projects to consider. There is debate over whether to honor the home's history by reconstructing it or simply tear it down and put up a viewing platform. The decision is still pending, and the city council will address the issue in the coming months.

The historic Norwood House overlooks Austin near I-35 and Riverside. Efforts to save it have been happening for decades, but now the city is reconsidering its future.

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-26 21:09:48

SUMMARY: A longtime church in southeast Dallas, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, caught fire around noon today. Flames quickly spread through the roof, and one firefighter sustained non-serious injuries. Pastor Paul David Taylor, who has been preaching there for 48 years, noticed the smoke while preparing for Sunday sermons. He safely evacuated and called his wife to pray. About 50 firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, which remained confined mostly to the church offices, sparing much of the sanctuary. Many of the pastor's books were salvageable. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the church plans to hold a service this Sunday at an undecided location.

Pastor P.D. Taylor was working inside the church, prepping his Sunday sermon, when he noticed smoke coming from a hallway.
