SUMMARY: Hamas has accepted a ceasefire proposal brokered by Egypt and Qatar, but Israel has rejected it due to not meeting its core demands. Despite this, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed to send mediators to continue talks. The terms of the ceasefire agreement have not been disclosed but reportedly include a three-phase approach involving a ceasefire, reconstruction of Gaza, and release of captives on both sides. The Israeli military has started warning Palestinians to evacuate Eastern Rafa in anticipation of a possible ground attack. President Biden has spoken with Netanyahu and continues to push for an end to the fighting, believing that reaching an agreement is the best outcome for all involved. Netanyahu has also agreed to reopen a key border crossing for humanitarian aid deliveries.

Hamas said it accepted a ceasefire proposal drawn up by Egypt and Qatar. Israel said the deal didn’t meet its core demands.

Daniel Perry’s attorney, victim’s mother speak out after full pardon | FOX 7 Austin

SUMMARY: Governor Abbott issued a full pardon to Daniel Perry, who was released from prison after being unanimously voted for by the Board of Pardons and Paroles. Perry had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Garrett Foster, an Air Force veteran who was legally carrying an AK-47 at a Black Lives Matter protest. Perry, a ride-share driver, shot Foster and drove off. The pardon came after new evidence, not presented at trial, showed that Perry may have felt threatened. While Abbott cited stand your ground laws, Foster’s mother and the district attorney disagreed with the reasoning, calling the decision political. Perry’s attorney plans to discuss his next steps and possibly rejoining the military.

Gov. Abbott issued a full pardon for Daniel Perry, the former US Army sergeant convicted of murdering Garrett Foster, a Black Lives Matter protester, in 2020. Now both sides are speaking out.

SUMMARY: At least four people are dead after an EF1 tornado touched down in Northwest Houston, with the potential for a fifth death to be confirmed. The storm caused extensive damage throughout Harris County, leading to power outages that could last for weeks. The city is facing challenges in restoring electricity and assessing the full extent of the damage. First responders and organizations like Texans on Mission are providing aid and support to the affected communities. The storm comes just two weeks after severe flooding, highlighting the resilience of the residents as they work to recover from multiple natural disasters.

Power outages could last weeks in parts of Houston, an official warned Friday, after thunderstorms with hurricane-force winds tore through the city, knocking out electricity to nearly 1 million homes and businesses in the region, blowing out windows on downtown high rises and flipping vehicles.

Israeli military finds bodies of 3 hostages in Gaza

Published

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-05-17 17:37:37

SUMMARY: Israeli military recovers bodies of three hostages killed by Hamas terrorists during an attack at a music festival in Gaza. More than 100 hostages are believed to still be in Hamas captivity. The US sends aid shipments to Gaza through a newly built pier, as land routes remain closed due to heavy fighting. Israeli forces plan to send more forces to the city of Rafa to combat Hamas. Aid agencies fear the new shipments will not be enough to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The UN states that aid delivery to Gaza should not depend solely on the new pier.

Military officials identified the bodies as those of German-Israeli Shani Louk, 22, Amit Buskila, a 28-year-old woman, and Itzhak Gelerenter, a 56-year-old man, the Associated Press reported.
