www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-06-28 17:47:09

SUMMARY: Former Uvaldi School District police chief Pete Arredondo and former officer Adrien Gonzalez were criminally charged for their handling of the Rob Elementary mass shooting two years ago. Arredondo faces 10 counts of endangering a child, while Gonzalez faces 29. The indictment alleges Arredondo recklessly endangered students' lives and failed to identify the incident as an active shooter situation. Legal experts question the likelihood of their convictions, citing the rarity of successful prosecutions of law enforcement officials for negligence. The case draws parallels to the 2023 acquittal of Deputy Scott Peterson, highlighting potential legal challenges ahead. Arredondo surrendered and was released after booking.

Former Uvalde schools' chief Pete Arredondo and officer Adrian Gonzales are the first to criminally charged in connection to the shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers.

Rent prices for Austin apartments have come down | FOX 7 Austin

Published

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2024-07-23 18:22:20

SUMMARY: In Austin, the rental market has shifted in favor of renters, allowing for negotiation on rent prices. Blaine Thomas, a Southwest Austin resident, saw a significant decrease in his rent from $1,900 to $1,200-$1,300 over the past year. Austin realtor Olivia Veil confirms average rents have dropped about 10%, returning to 2021 levels. The decrease is attributed to an overcompensation in new constructions during the pandemic. However, rent decreases are not uniform; downtown areas remain stable. It's advisable to negotiate if landlords attempt to raise rents, as current market conditions often do not justify increases. Home prices have also declined, but less significantly than rents.

Apartment prices have actually come down significantly in the last year, and there are plenty of bargains to be had. 7 On Your Side reporter John Krinjak has some expert advice.

#FOX7Austin brings you the important stuff like breaking , weather, and local stories out of Central #Texas. But also plenty of fun stuff, like Pet of the Weekend, the best of our archives, and all those ‘only-in-#Austin' stories.

Pleasant Grove store owner believes attempted break-in is connected to recent burglaries

Published

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-23 17:42:45

SUMMARY: A Dallas woman, Christina Hernandez, reports an attempted break-in at her business on July 8th by men dressed in black. The intruders, thwarted by a metal door and an alarm, were captured on security footage driving a black pickup truck. Hernandez connected the incident to other burglaries in the area after seeing a Fox 4 report, noting similar suspect descriptions and a matching vehicle. The burglars had targeted and cut the store's electrical box. Hernandez has since improved her security system and urges other businesses to be cautious. Dallas Police are investigating potential links between these cases, and the investigation is ongoing.

The owner of Pleasant Grove market says she believes the suspects who tried to break into her store earlier this month may be the same people in a recent story on FOX 4 News.
