SUMMARY: The Carroll ISD School Board is among several plaintiffs suing to prevent President Biden's changes to Title IX, which would include protections for gender identity. At a recent school board meeting, many activists supported the board's opposition, arguing the changes could harm women's sports. Carroll ISD was the first district to file such a lawsuit, claiming the updates go too far by protecting transgender students and infringing on girls' rights. The conservative Alliance Defending Freedom filed the lawsuit for the district. In a closed session, the board discussed the litigation, with public comments largely supporting the board's stance. A recent court ruling favored Texas in a similar lawsuit.

The Carroll ISD school board didn't comment on the status of the lawsuit against the rewrite of Title IX in Monday's meeting. But many people thanked the board for standing up to a change that they say threatens the future of women's sports.

SUMMARY: Mosqu police officer Brian Hill and his father, Rowette City Marshal Darvin Hill, were arrested and charged following a violent incident. Brian allegedly misused a police database to obtain information about Jason Benjamin, who was accused of stalking Brian's girlfriend and committing arson on Brian's motorcycle. Darvin reportedly used this information to locate and shoot into Benjamin's car. While no one was injured, Darvin faces charges for deadly conduct, and Brian for misuse of official information and providing false statements. Jason Benjamin is charged with stalking and arson. Brian Hill has been placed on administrative leave pending investigations.

Investigators say a frightening escalation involving arson and stalking led a Mesquite police officer and his city marshal father to break the law and target their alleged perpetrator with violence.

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-23 22:08:13

SUMMARY: Plano police arrested Uber driver Robert Johnson III, charging him with the aggravated sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. The incident occurred on July 9th when Johnson, driving for Uber , diverted from the route and assaulted the girl in a parking lot. The child reported the attack the following day to her therapist. Despite Uber's annual driver screenings and Johnson's clean criminal record, the attack highlights vulnerabilities in ride-sharing services. Uber has permanently banned Johnson and is cooperating with police. Authorities encourage extra safety measures, including staying in the back seat and sharing locations. Johnson has been released on bail, and police are investigating potential additional victims.

Police say the girl was alone in the Uber because her mom called for the ride on the Uber Health app designed to take people to and from medical facilities.

SUMMARY: 38-year-old Pasquel Tores drowned in the Trinity River in Fort Worth while rescuing two struggling children at Gateway Park. Despite his efforts, Tores did not resurface after saving the boys, who managed to reach the shore safely. His sister-in-law, Valerie Perez, witnessed the tragedy and described the hero's actions and the family's subsequent grief. Tores had been living and working in Fort Worth to support his wife and three children in Mexico. The Fort Worth Fire's dive team eventually recovered his body after an extensive search. The family is now raising funds to send Tores's body back to Mexico.

Pascual Torres' family says he had no hesitation when he saw two young boys he didn't know struggling to swim. He jumped in but never came back up. Now, his own 3-year-old boy is still asking when his dad will be home.
