Voters in Fort Worth supporting adding to hotel tax for convention center renovations – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
SUMMARY: Fort Worth voters are supporting a 2% increase in hotel occupancy taxes to fund renovations to the convention center. More than 70% of voters backed Proposition A, which will raise the hotel room tax to 17%. The resolution aims to pay for expansion and renovation of the convention center, including replacing the old arena, without increasing property or sales taxes. Visit Fort Worth supports the proposal, noting that despite being the 13th largest city in the US, the convention center ranks 47th in available space. Final vote totals are pending as not all precincts have reported.
