SUMMARY: Texas softball, down 5-1 in the sixth inning to Texas A&M in Game Two of the Austin Super Regional, fought back to force a deciding Game Three, ultimately winning and clinching a spot in the Women’s College World Series. The jubilant Longhorns celebrated at their home stadium, notably indulging in hot dogs, which were brought out post-game. This ritual stems from Reese Atwood, the Big 12 Player of the Year, whose favorite food is a hot dog. Despite her hot dog getting wet from celebratory water, Atwood enjoyed the win. The Longhorns’ journey continues as they eye their first national championship, opening in Oklahoma City against Stanford.

SUMMARY: Louisiana recently became the first state to mandate the display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms, a move that disappointed Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. He lamented that Texas should have been the first state to implement such a law. Texas Senate had approved Senate Bill 1515, requiring a visible display of the Ten Commandments in K-12 classrooms, but the bill stalled in the House. Patrick criticized Speaker Dade Phelan for not prioritizing the bill. Louisiana's law also applies to state universities and is facing expected legal challenges for potentially being unconstitutional.
