Texas makes crucial water investment, but voters must sign off

SUMMARY: Texas lawmakers have passed bills allocating over $2 billion to improve water infrastructure and prevent flooding. The state is predicted to need $150 billion of investment in the next 50 years to ensure a reliable water supply. A funding umbrella known as the Texas Water Fund is expected to be approved by voters in November, which will enable money to be transferred for projects such as the New Water Supply for Texas Fund. Additionally, $125 million has been set aside for water infrastructure projects that will enable Texas to access matching federal funding.
