Taylor Swift’s label UMG to pull music from TikTok, accusing it of bullying – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

SUMMARY: Universal Music Group will no longer license its music to TikTok, accusing the platform of bullying and intimidation in contract negotiations. UMG accused TikTok of underpaying for music and enabling AI-generated music. The music label's music licensing agreement with TikTok has expired, and UMG says that only 1% of its total revenue comes from TikTok. TikTok has responded by accusing UMG of putting “their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters.” They stated that UMG is walking away from a platform with over a billion users. UMG has not reached an agreement with TikTok and may pull its music catalog from the platform.
