Montrose pitbull attack: Houston dog owner claims using taekwondo skills to find off aggressive canine

SUMMARY: Fred Schiller, a man from Montrose, used his taekwondo skills to defend his dog, Verve, from a pitbull attack during a walk on May 5. The pitbull charged at them and clamped down on Verve’s neck, prompting Schiller to kick and punch the aggressive dog until it released his pet. Ellen Blasio also tried to help but was bitten on the hand. The owner of the pitbull was located and agreed to quarantine the dog for signs of rabies. Schiller may seek legal action to have the dog declared dangerous. BARC did not cite the owner for having the dog off leash.

FEMA disaster assistance: Federal funding available for some Texas counties after deadly, destructive storm across Houston area

Damage from Houston storms: 54 Houston ISD schools closed today due to storm damage and power outages
