Malaria cases in Texas and Florida are the first U.S. spread since 2003 : NPR
SUMMARY: Five cases of mosquito-borne malaria have been reported in the United States in the past two months, marking the first local spread in two decades. Four of the cases were found in Florida and one in Texas. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believe the cases are locally acquired. This development raises concerns about a potential increase in imported malaria cases as international summer travel increases. Malaria is mostly found in tropical countries and can be life-threatening but is preventable and curable. Climate change is predicted to worsen the spread of malaria and other mosquito-borne illnesses.

FBI says bullet struck former President Donald Trump’s ear during assassination attempt at Pennsylvania rally on July 13
SUMMARY: The FBI confirmed that former President Donald Trump was struck by a bullet in the ear during an assassination attempt on July 13, contradicting earlier uncertainty from FBI Director Christopher Wray. Trump criticized Wray's Congress testimony questioning whether he was hit by a bullet or shrapnel. Texas Representative Ronny Jackson, also Trump's former physician, supported Trump's claim, stating there was no evidence of it being anything other than a bullet. The FBI's investigation continues as they examine bullet fragments from the rally site. Trump insists the injury was caused by a bullet and pledges to fire Wray if re-elected.
