Houston Roughnecks survive XFL merger with USFL, creating the United Football League

The USFL’s Houston Gamblers have been rebranded as the Houston Roughnecks and will be led by former USFL Gamblers head coach, Curtis Johnson. The former XFL Roughnecks head coach, Wade Phillips, will now coach the San Antonio team. The inaugural UFL season kicks off on March 30, 2024, with games broadcast on ABC13 and ESPN. Damage from Houston storms: 54 Houston ISD schools closed today due to storm damage and power outages
