SUMMARY: Houston resident Brandon Mora received an unusually high water bill of $1,379.98, significantly more than the typical $150 his family pays. Mora reached out to Houston Public Works after discovering that the meter had been damaged by rodents, compromising the accuracy of their water usage readings. After the city replaced the meter, no adjustments were made to the family’s bills and fees continued to accrue. Despite promises from Houston Mayor John Whitmire to address the issue, a plan to fix the water bill system has been delayed.
