SUMMARY: Scorching heat has caused at least 13 deaths in Texas and one in Louisiana, with temperatures forecasted to surpass 100 degrees throughout the Southeast. Eleven of the heat-related deaths occurred in a Texas county with a high poverty rate, where many do not have air conditioning due to cost concerns. Extreme heat also led to the deaths of two hikers in Florida. The heatwave has prompted the US Postal Service to allow earlier starting times for letter carriers, following the death of a carrier in Dallas from the heat. The heat dome responsible for these high temperatures is expected to spread eastward. Heat safety tips include staying hydrated, staying in air-conditioned rooms, watching for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, and taking care of pets.

This approach aims to reduce overstocking and shipping, thus enhancing sustainability. The store is part of IKEA's broader expansion into Texas and will not accept returns. The “Plan & Order” format is also being introduced in other U.S. cities including Los Angeles and Atlanta. The store operates daily with varying hours.
