SUMMARY: The Harris Center for Mental and IDD in Harris County, Texas, has been the victim of a cyberattack. The attack, discovered on Tuesday, encrypted employee files, making them inaccessible. The facility preemptively shut down its network to prevent the spread of the attack, causing delays in patient care. It is unclear if any data has been compromised, and it remains uncertain when things will return to normal. The center is working with security specialists to investigate the attack and restore their systems as they continue to provide patient care. Copyright © 2023 KTRK-TV. All Rights Reserved.
