Galveston rip currents: Houston teen drowns, marking second fatality this weekend amid red flag warning

SUMMARY: A 19-year-old woman from Houston, Yamileth Ramirez, died after being caught in dangerous rip currents in , Texas, over the holiday weekend. Ramirez was body surfing early Sunday morning when she struggled and was pulled from the water at 76th Street by her brother and a bystander, who administered CPR. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital. This is the second fatality related to rip currents in Galveston this weekend. Due to intense wind conditions causing deadly currents, the city has issued a red flag warning, advising children and non-swimmers to avoid the water and adult swimmers to stay in waist-deep waters.

Woman arrested, 2 others accused looting Hurricane Beryl-ravaged Westchase area apartments
