Chlorine spill in Texas lazy river leaves 12 people, including children, with ‘possible accidental ingestion’

SUMMARY: Twelve people, including children, were hospitalized in Houston, Texas after too much chlorine was accidentally put into a lazy river pool, creating a hazardous situation. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on June 24, and hazmat cleaning services were sent to clean the infected pools. The Houston Fire Department Chief asked people to stay clear of the area. Initially, seven children and three adults were taken to the hospital, but later it was revealed that 12 individuals were hospitalized. Exposure to excessive amounts of chlorine can cause asthma, nausea, and skin and eye irritation. Authorities have not revealed the cause of the spill.

Sheriff’s Office pulls body from Lake Travis cove

SUMMARY: A body matching the description of a missing swimmer was found Sunday evening after a search by multiple agencies, according to a press release from the Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO). The 70-year-old man, not wearing a life vest, went underwater Saturday afternoon in a cove near Arkansas Bend County Park. The search involved TCSO Lake Patrol, Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD), Lake Travis Fire Rescue, STAR Flight, and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). On Sunday, the body was recovered from a depth of 29 feet using remotely operated vehicles and sonar. TCSO stated no crime is suspected but did not identify the body.
