Austin Energy crews to help restore power in Houston after damaging storms

SUMMARY: Austin Energy is sending 21 lineworkers and support personnel to Houston to help with storm recovery after severe thunderstorms killed at least four people and left over 900,000 homes without power. CenterPoint Energy requested assistance, and Austin Energy is honored to provide mutual aid in natural disasters. Meanwhile, CenterPoint is working on restoration and has requested a total of 4,000 lineworkers and 1,000 vegetation professionals to help with recovery. Strong winds caused significant damage to the electric system in various areas, but progress has been made in restoring power to over 180,000 customers.

Friar Point fatal fire: 7-year-old boy dead, grandmother hospitalized after fatal house fire in Houston, fire crews say
