Motorcyclist dies on I-45 after crashing into pick-up truck during Galveston police chase

The chase began after he allegedly fled the scene of a prior crash where his 51-year-old passenger was ejected and critically injured. Officers responded to the initial crash around 12:40 a.m. Monday on Seawall Blvd. Despite efforts to stop him, the motorcyclist continued to flee, eventually crashing while trying to maneuver between vehicles on I-45 in La Marque. The motorcyclist, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for six hours, and the Galveston County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
